This past weekend was all about cars, starting with the 2025 MINI Countryman JCW. Currently, MINI is providing an invitation only tour in select territories.

MINI Countryman JCW
The Social Diary’s special relationship with the MINI range dates back to 2001. Our ownership included an invitation to an exclusive screening of The Italian Job in 2003. Almost a 100 mighty MINIs showed up for the event. We were a rare breed back then. MINI was still a novelty and dealerships were “few and far between.”
Additionally, the acquisition of the MINI range by BMW ensured our relationship with the German automaker continues. Prior to 2001, we owned a fleet of BMWs. Now, we own a fleet of MINI Coopers. One of our vehicles just went “antique” perfect for Audrain’s Cars & Coffee set. However, the John Cooper Works (JCW) is in a class by itself.
Aptly named John Cooper Works or JCW, the MINI Coopers have a racing pedigree. However, not all MINI Coopers are JCW performance. Moreover, JCWs have high performance engines and parts, and are crafted for drivers looking for “performance engineering.” Now, the 2025 MINI Countryman JCW has elevated the technology.

Technology & Design
Over the decades, the MINI Cooper has expanded in length. Further, if you compare the original 2001 hardtop to the current iteration, there is a stark difference in size. However, not much had changed in technology, until now.
The 2025 MINI Countryman JCW brings a whole set of firsts. This includes a “fully-fledged voice assistant.” It also boasts “the world-first OLED display (circular in design and the largest yet) powered by Samsung and eight different experience modes.” Besides, the new MINI Countryman JCW has height. It stands higher off the ground than its predecessors, in addition to its length and wider wheel arches.
Run / flats are no longer an option. The new MINI Countryman JCW comes standard with 20″ wheels. Currently, it doesn’t have the ability to “self drive” which probably is a good thing. However, it has enough cameras to provide “partly-automated support.” The early warning system includes blindspot, lane departure and front collision.

John Cooper
The MINI has a rich racing history, thanks to John Cooper. The Formula1 (F1) automaker was instrumental in the quirky design and bold “bulldog” stance. Wider is better! Besides, have you ever tried to take a corner? Definitely have 35mph in a MINI, without braking.
Speaking of F1, a hearty congratulations to Lando Norris @McLarenF1.
