Newport 1775 Exhibition: America at 250
Indeed, on July 4, 2026, America will achieve an historic milestone, and we celebrate the 250th Anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Several events planned throughout Newport in preparation, including Colony House Open House. If you are a member of our Social Butterfly Club and “Charitable Giving Fund,” you will receive regular updates.
Moreover, The Social Diary will report on all the festivities from this side of the pond, thrilled to participate in this momentous celebration. No doubt other communities across the country will do the same. There aren’t many historic firsts, so 2026 will be a year to remember, for sure!
“Whose Side Are You On?”

Newport 1775 Exhibition asks the question, “Whose Side Are You On?”
The Exhibition asks us how we would “respond to the call of the Revolution?”
Moreover, Patriots and Loyalists in Colonial Newport faced this dilemma. The Exhibition highlights six Newport residents who had to make tough choices during those turbulent times.

The Exhibition features interactive displays and period artifacts. Included on display is a 17th Century printing press, as daily media reporting was fierce and lively. Information spread quickly and opinions were varied and influenced by personal decisions and the media.
