American Daffodil Society Show
April in New England, especially Newport to Bristol, Rhode Island can mean one thing. The Daffodil season. The month where beautiful pops of colour spring up all over our storied communities by the sea. These short-lived beauties provide delightful landscape coverings, with month-long festivals and events dedicated to their existence!
But did you know, according to the American Daffodil Society, there are between 40 to 200 Daffodil species and 32,000 registered hybrids? Blithewold in Bloom with Daffodils provided a delightful peek into the staying power of these blooming beauties.

Preview Party! Blithewold in Bloom
The hospitality setup for the evening was first rate. Blithewold handled catering like a pro, with food prepared in their own kitchen! Besides the delectable charcuterie offerings, the tray passed hors d’oeuvre menu included chicken skewers, shrimp cocktails, meatballs, Caprese crostinis, strawberry and goat cheese costinis, pizza bites and fruit medley.
A cocktail mixologist was on board for bar beverages, including mocktails. However, the only “no go” for the evening was Red wine, which is the toughest stain to remove. Since the Mansion prides itself on having irreplaceable items from the family collections, red just won’t do. So, it is understandable why this alcoholic beverage was off the bar menu.

Tea and coffee service followed in decorative cups and saucers that even rivalled The Social Diary’s afternoon tea collection. An entertainment treat awaited guests, as the students from the Ballet Center performed. The winners of the Chinese Raffle were announced to cheerful applause.
The evening ended with a glorious sunset and wonderful conversations, to be continued. Blithewold in Bloom: A 2024 American Daffodil Society Show concluded this weekend. What will be in store for 2025?
