The Social Diary attended an “ultimate” Female Empowerment screening of SheRuns the World at Coco’s at Colette in NYC. The story of Allyson Felix, the most decorated Olympic track and field athlete in history, is a film that changed social perspective, and challenged sponsors to view female athletes as more than just a commodity.

Happy Birthday Chef Jacques Pépin!

Thriller Panel and Tea
The Social Diary welcomed another thrilling authors series, we aptly named, Thriller Panel and Tea, hosted by the Ocean House RI on October 26, 2025. Moreover, lucky for us, no “boxed lunch.” Additionally, Deborah Goodrich Royce was back to moderate!
Jay Leno Day In Newport
Faxon Lodge in Newport Rhode Island held a private VIP Welcome Reception for Audrain Motor Week. More importantly, the City of Newport honoured their “adopted son.” Jay Leno Day in Newport launched on October 2, 2025. The proclamation recognises Mr. Leno’s immense contributions to the City.
Redwood Library Garden Party
The Social Diary enjoys a festive garden party, where a fashionable head topper is just as important as the attire! Therefore, The Redwood Library Garden Party in Newport this past Sunday did not disappoint! What a fantastic way to end the summer in Newport than with an early evening soirée among friends!
Black Ships Festival Gala
The 42nd Annual Black Ships Festival Gala held at Ochre Court in Newport on August 23rd was a delightful spectacle and a culinary treat. This Gilded Age edifice also made an appearance in Season 3 of The Gilded Age. Moreover, the Japan-America Society of Rhode Island rolled out the proverbial “red carpet” for the attendees. Likewise, the hospitality was first rate from beginning to end.
Yappy Hour at Beaulieu Newport
Mrs. Dede Wilsey hosted Yappy Hour at Beaulieu Newport this past Sunday. A lovely garden party in support of Potter League for Animals, full of “puppy love,” delicious hors d’oeuvres, refreshing cocktails and funding for a great cause!
Sam Waterston at Rosecliff
The Great Gatsby revisited, with an evening with Sam Waterston at Rosecliff to discuss his iconic 1974 film. Another “feather in the cap” for the Preservation Society of Newport.
A Royal Recipe for Love Etiquette
The Social Diary presents A Royal Recipe for Love Etiquette 101. Hats, gloves and afternoon tea? Reel One Entertainment and Champlain Media presented another canned “Royally” themed film. These storylines are usually repetitive, with little substance, and mostly technically flawed.
