Sam Waterston at Rosecliff
The Great Gatsby revisited, with an evening with Sam Waterston at Rosecliff to discuss his iconic 1974 film. Another “feather in the cap” for the Preservation Society of Newport.
A Royal Recipe for Love Etiquette
The Social Diary presents A Royal Recipe for Love Etiquette 101. Hats, gloves and afternoon tea? Reel One Entertainment and Champlain Media presented another canned “Royally” themed film. These storylines are usually repetitive, with little substance, and mostly technically flawed.
Fête Champêtre Garden Party
The fourth Gilded Age Orchestra performance at Rosecliff covered the late 19th century at the end of the Franco-Prussian war. Additionally, the musical selections covered La Belle Epoque (“The Beautiful Era”), an ode to Tabasco and Fête Champêtre (“Garden Party”) at Chateau-sur-Mer.

A few days after the 22nd Annual Newport Wedding Show, The Social Diary held a consultation meeting, and a perfect time for tea as well! We discussed all things hosting and entertaining. Place settings were at the top of our discussions, of course.

Sparkling Lights at The Breakers

Thriller Panel Author Series
Most of us can name a handful of authors who dominated thriller and crime fiction. These include Agatha Christie, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, John Le Carre and James Patterson. This is a short list, of course. But at the Thriller Panel author series at the Ocean House, a new selection of good reads awaited, with a fresh breed of gifted authors. They may not be household names yet, but given their track record, they are on their way to becoming a household staple.
