The Social Diary enjoys a festive garden party, where a fashionable head topper is just as important as the attire! Therefore, The Redwood Library Garden Party in Newport this past Sunday did not disappoint! What a fantastic way to end the summer in Newport than with an early evening soirée among friends!
Redwood Library Sets the Mood
The Social Diary has attended numerous events at The Redwood Library, from lectures, film screenings to operatic performances. The Redwood Library Garden Party was a class act, in our honest opinion. From the décor, the selection of the band to Pranzi catering, everything was first rate!
Whilst the sun peaked, a light breeze was cooling. The tables covered in white cloth and adorned with white floral centerpieces, added elegance to the evening’s affair. Some of the attendees wore decorative hats and fascinators. Florals, Boaters and Panama fashionable head toppers created a picture-perfect scene. All we needed was an artist in residence to capture the moment!
The ambience of the evening completed by the musicians who set the tone with their cool, jazzy notes.

The selection of Pranzi catering for this event was spot on! We have attended several events throughout Newport where they catered and Pranzi did not disappoint!
For this garden party, they provided delectable sandwiches that included smoked salmon and several meaty varieties. Additionally, the tray-passed morsels included wonton dumplings, veggie skewers, pizza rounds and stuffed mushrooms. Moreover, the desserts were table side favourites and included white and chocolate cake pops, lemon curd fruit cups and chocolate mousse in dark chocolate shells. All in all, it was a very successful culinary experience!
Some of us at The Social Diary are teetotalers, but unlike Agnes van Rhijn of The Gilded Age in season 3, we welcome good “spirts” as well! After all, if we are not drinking them, we are cooking and baking with them! Guinness Chocolate Cake, anyone? Moreover, from our spiced rum soaked Tiramisu and Whisky boozy Cranachan, or even our aromatic port wine reduction with a good filet of beef, we serve it all up in our test kitchen!
