2024 London’s Air Ambulance Charity Black and White Gala Ball kicked off on Thursday 7th February. This worthy charity has its own “Patron Saint” in HRH The Prince of Wales. Mr. Tom Cruise joined Prince William for this important charity event. This evening social brought awareness and raised funds for the Up Against Time Appeal.
The Black & White Dress Code
Fashion did not disappoint as guests wore the traditional “black/white” combo or the black or white ensemble. Gentlemen naturally gravitated toward the ‘go to’ style of the dinner suit. Prince William took it a notch higher with a black velvet dinner jacket.
Mr. Cruise looked very debonair in his version of the dinner suit with the peak lapel, however, The Social Diary highly recommends the “jetted pockets” instead. The ladies looked gorgeous, of course! All dressed to the nines for this important occasion. The twin Spencers shined in dual black and white evening wear. Lady Amelia wore a black floor-length slinky evening dress whilst Lady Eliza wore a body hugging white cocktail attire.
Many organisations have adopted the Black & What Ball theme. However, Truman Capote gets the credit. The story goes that his inspiration came from watching the Ascot scene in My Fair Lady (1964). Thus the start of a beautiful relationship of charity themed events going black & white.
